Odell Jones
First Tenor, Second Tenor, Baritone, Bass and Lead
He was born Cecil Odell Jones on October 30, 1949 in
Detroit, Michigan to Charles and Eloise Jones. His mother
taught him how to sing bass and when he was seven years
old, he began singing with a group called "Little
Checker." At the age of ten, a move to a new neighborhood
forced him to leave the group. However, it didn't end
his singing career
He began to sing with kids in the new neighborhood and
at the age of eleven, he and his brother, Charles Jones,
Jr. formed a group that his mother named "The Steptones."
